ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Hermantown will play St. Thomas Academy in the Class 1A championship for the third straight year.

Zach Kramer’s breakaway goal in the second overtime Friday gave Hermantown a 4-3 victory over Breck in the semifinals and another chance to beat St. Thomas Academy, which breezed by East Grand Forks 11-0 in the other game at Xcel Energy Center.

Hermantown (25-4-1) trailed 3-2 until Travis Koepke scored with 5:53 remaining in regulation. Koepke had two goals and Bo Gronseth and Neal Pionk each had two assists for the Hawks.

St. Thomas Academy (26-2-2) has outscored its first two opponents in the state tournament 23-0. Wyatt Schmidt led the Cadets with four goals, including two of the team’s six in the second period. STA is moving to Class 2A next season.
